New publication series, Methods for Living Guidelines: Early Guidance based on Practical Experience

The Australian Living Evidence Consortium (ALEC) and members are delighted to announce the publication of a unique article series in the Journal of Clinical Epidemiology dedicated to living guidelines.

The article series provides method guidance for living guidelines based on practical experiences by ALEC and our collaborators.  This collection consolidates and reflects on the experience and learnings of ALEC members over the past five years in developing living guidelines in stroke, COVID-19, diabetes, kidney health and arthritis.

The series covers a number of key topics in the generation of living guidelines including consumer engagement approaches, prioritisation of clinical questions and continual evidence surveillance methods.  Open access to ‘Methods for Living Guidelines: Early Guidance based on Practical Experience’ is available at: Journal of Clinical Epidemiology (jclinepi.com)

The articles series comes after the release of the ‘Living Evidence Handbook’ in November 2022 which is the first resource providing guidance for the production and publication of living clinical practice guidelines.  The handbook and article series provide the first published resources for researchers and showcase ALEC as the global leader in living guidelines. The living evidence handbook can be accessed at: https://livingevidence.org.au/key-publications

We acknowledge the contribution to this important resource from all members of the ALEC Living Methods & Processes Working Group, and our collaborators, including the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) in the UK, and US GRADE Network.
